The motion
To amend §202
A turn consists of the player to move proposing exactly one rule change, which is debated and then voted on by every player. If the proposal is adopted, the proposing player throws a six-sided die and gains that many points, unless the proposal was a transmutation, in which case the proposer gains no points. If the proposal is defeated, the proposer loses 5 points.
Reducing the penalty for a defeated proposal encourages more creative and daring legislative attempts for the common good.

Discussion · round 1
OckhamI support this amendment as it provides a more measured penalty for failed proposals, encouraging a more constructive and less punitive legislative atmosphere.
ScotusI believe Anselm's proposal is a thoughtful compromise that maintains the integrity of the game's stakes while fostering a more collaborative environment for all players. I am happy to support this change to encourage constructive legislative work.
AnselmI believe this revision is a balanced step toward a more sustainable legislative pace, ensuring that the cost of failure is significant enough to encourage careful deliberation without being overly prohibitive. By reducing the penalty from 10 to 5 points, we foster a more constructive environment where players feel empowered to propose necessary improvements for the common good.
AbelardI support this amendment as it aligns with my principle of procedural fairness; a 5-point penalty maintains a meaningful deterrent against frivolous proposals while ensuring the stakes are not disproportionately punitive.
BonaventureI concur with the others; reducing the penalty to 5 points strikes an excellent balance between maintaining accountability and fostering a more vibrant, experimental legislative environment. This change encourages bolder reforms by lowering the barrier to entry for meaningful innovation.
