§ Turn 45

Moved by Ayersimple majority
The motion
To amend §202
A turn consists of the proposing player suggesting exactly one rule change, debating it, voting on it, and then rolling a twenty-sided die to gain points. If the roll is a '0', the player loses 5 points; if the roll is a '1', the player gains 1 bonus point; if a player rolls a '20', they gain 5 bonus points. If the roll is a '5', the proposing player gains an additional turn immediately. If a player rolls a '10', they may choose to transfer up to 5 points to any other player. If a player rolls a '15', they may choose to split their roll between two players of their choice, granting each half the points of the roll rounded down. Introduce a 'bonus round' every three turns where players can propose two rule changes in one turn to encourage innovative strategies and faster rule adoption. During the bonus round, the player may opt to use the roll to either propose a rule change or gain points, offering a strategic choice.

Aligning the 'bonus round' frequency with the turn order ensures all players have an equal opportunity to benefit from the innovative rule change.

Discussion · round 1
RamseyAs Ramsey, I appreciate the constructive dialogue and the spirit of innovation brought forward by Ayer's proposal. However, I would like to suggest a modification that maintains the spirit of encouraging innovative strategies while ensuring the game remains strategically balanced. Instead of introducing a 'bonus round' every three turns, I propose keeping the current 'bonus round' every two turns to maintain a quicker pace for rule adoption. Furthermore, to ensure the rule does not overly advantage those with frequent low rolls, we could cap the total points a player can gain during a 'bonus round' to 10 points. This amendment preserves the strategic depth and innovation of the game while maintaining fairness. **Proposed Amendment to [202]:** Introduce a 'bonus round' every two turns where players can propose two rule changes in one turn to encourage innovative strategies and faster rule adoption. During the bonus round, the player may opt to use the roll to either propose a rule change or gain points, offering a strategic choice, with a maximum gain of 10 points during a single bonus round.
Ayer**Ayer: As Ayer, I appreciate Ramsey's thoughtful suggestion to cap the maximum gain during a bonus round to 10 points, which I find a fair approach to maintaining strategic balance. However, I'd like to propose a slight modification to ensure that the spirit of innovation and the potential for strategic diversity are not overly restricted. Instead of a strict 10-point cap during a bonus round, I suggest implementing a dynamic cap based on the number of players. Specifically, the cap could be set to the number of players in the game multiplied by 2.5, rounded down. This would adjust the cap to 7.5 points for our five-player game, effectively capping it at 7 points during a bonus round. This approach maintains fairness while still allowing for significant strategic maneuvering during bonus rounds.** **Proposed Amendment to [202]:** Introduce a 'bonus round' every two turns where players can propose two rule changes in one turn to encourage innovative strategies and faster rule adoption. During the bonus round, the player may opt to use the roll to either propose a rule change or gain points, offering a strategic choice, with a dynamic cap on total points gained during a single bonus round set to the number of players multiplied by 2.5, rounded down.
RyleAs Ryle, I appreciate the constructive dialogue and the innovative spirit that Ayer and Ramsey have brought forth. Both proposals aim to maintain strategic balance while encouraging innovation, which is crucial for the game's health and enjoyment. However, I propose a slight modification to ensure that our rule changes not only encourage innovation but also maintain a fair and engaging pace for all players. **My Proposed Amendment to [202]:** Introduce a 'bonus round' every two turns where players can propose two rule changes in one turn to encourage innovative strategies and faster rule adoption. During the bonus round, the player may opt to use the roll to either propose a rule change or gain points, offering a strategic choice, with a dynamic cap on total points gained during a single bonus round set to the number of players multiplied by 3, rounded down. Additionally, to further balance the game and encourage thoughtful play, any points gained during a bonus round must be declared and recorded immediately, ensuring transparency and strategic planning among players. This amendment builds on the spirit of innovation and strategic depth, offering a fair approach to maintaining the game's balance and ensuring all players have an equal opportunity to leverage the bonus round for strategic advantage. By adjusting the cap to be slightly more generous, we encourage players to think creatively about how to use their rolls during bonus rounds, while the requirement for immediate declaration of points gained promotes strategic planning and transparency. I believe this amendment strikes a fair balance between innovation and strategic depth, ensuring the game remains engaging and fair for all players.
StrawsonAs Strawson, I appreciate the innovative efforts and strategic considerations proposed by both Ayer and Ryle. Their amendments seek to balance strategic depth with fairness, a principle I hold in high regard. However, I propose a slight modification to ensure that the rule change not only fosters innovation but also maintains a level playing field for all players, regardless of their position in the turn order. To further ensure fairness and strategic depth, any points gained during a bonus round must be declared and recorded immediately. Additionally, to prevent any potential exploitation of the bonus round mechanism, a rule will be added that limits the number of consecutive bonus rounds a player can benefit from to three, ensuring that all players have equal opportunities to leverage the game's mechanics over time. This amendment builds upon the foundation laid by Ayer and Ryle, aiming to preserve the game's strategic integrity while encouraging innovation. By introducing a limit on consecutive bonus round benefits, we ensure that no single player can unduly leverage the game's mechanics to gain an unfair advantage, thus maintaining the game's competitive balance and fairness. This proposal, while maintaining the spirit of innovation, ensures that the game remains fair, engaging, and strategically rich for all players, irrespective of their turn order or current score.
GriceAs Grice, I appreciate the thoughtful considerations and constructive proposals by Ramsey, Ayer, Ryle, and Strawson. Their amendments aim to balance innovation with fairness, a balance I hold dear. However, I propose a slight modification to ensure the game remains engaging and equitable for all players, regardless of their position in the turn order. **My Proposed Amendment to [202]:** Introduce a 'bonus round' every two turns where players can propose two rule changes in one turn to encourage innovative strategies and faster rule adoption. During the bonus round, the player may opt to use the roll to either propose a rule change or gain points, offering a strategic choice, with a dynamic cap on total points gained during a single bonus round set to the number of players multiplied by 3.5, rounded down. To ensure fairness and strategic depth, any points gained during a bonus round must be declared and recorded immediately. Additionally, to maintain a level playing field, a rule will be added that limits the number of consecutive bonus rounds a player can benefit from to two, ensuring that all players have equal opportunities to leverage the game's mechanics over time. This amendment builds upon the foundation laid by my fellow players, aiming to preserve the game's strategic integrity while encouraging innovation. By slightly adjusting the cap on points gained during a bonus round, we encourage players to think creatively about how to use their rolls during bonus rounds. The immediate declaration of points gained promotes strategic planning and transparency among players. Limiting the number of consecutive bonus rounds a player can benefit from ensures that no single player can unduly leverage the game's mechanics to gain an unfair advantage, thus maintaining the game's competitive balance and fairness. This proposal, while maintaining the spirit of innovation, ensures that the game remains fair, engaging, and strategically rich for all players, irrespective of their turn order or current score.

The proposal by Ayer to amend [202] has been adopted, changing the bonus round frequency from every two turns to every three turns. No rules in the current ruleset award or deduct points upon adoption of a rule change, nor do they create or move any ledgers. The next player to propose is Ayer, as per the turn order.
