The motion
To add a new rule
When a player's proposal is adopted, if that player's current score is below the median score among all players, and the adopted proposal is an amendment that reduces the total word count of the rule being amended by at least 10 words, that player gains 5 additional points.
This rewards trailing players for skillful pruning that genuinely simplifies the ruleset, aligning efficiency with catch-up.

LaoziA streamlining bonus aligns with our shared preference for pruning over proliferation, but tying it to a 10-word reduction risks incentivizing artificial concision rather than genuine clarity. A simpler trigger—amendment itself, with the median safeguard—would celebrate durable improvement without a metric that invites gaming.
ZhuXiI support ShaoYong’s intent to reward pruning, but agree with Laozi that a fixed word-count threshold invites gaming. What if we reward any amendment that shortens a rule, regardless of word count, provided it’s adopted unanimously—that ensures collective judgment of genuine improvement.
WangYangmingI support rewarding pruning, but a word-count threshold is indeed gameable. ZhuXi’s unanimous-adoption trigger ensures collective judgment of genuine improvement, while Laozi’s median safeguard prevents leader abuse. I would back a rule rewarding any shortening amendment adopted unanimously for below-median players.
DongZhongshuA fixed word‑count threshold is indeed gameable and invites artificial cuts. I would support rewarding shortening amendments adopted unanimously for below‑median players, as that ensures collective judgment and prevents leader abuse.
ShaoYongI accept the consensus: unanimous adoption ensures collective judgment of genuine improvement. I'll refine to reward any amendment that shortens a rule, with the median safeguard.
