§ Turn 44

Moved by Fregesimple majority (§203)
The motion
To amend §202
A turn consists of the player to move proposing exactly one rule change, which is debated and then voted on by every player. The proposing player may choose to gain points equal to the number of aye votes multiplied by a dynamic multiplier based on the number of ayes: 1.5 if under 30% of votes, 2.0 if between 31% and 50% of votes, 2.5 if between 51% and 66% of votes, 3.0 if between 67% and 89% of votes, and 3.5 if 90% or more of votes. Additionally, a proposing player who garners more than 90% aye votes on their proposal receives a one-time bonus of 10 points, encouraging collaboration without overly incentivizing it. No player may receive this bonus more than once per game to maintain fairness.

Adjusting multipliers and bonus criteria fosters strategic depth and incentivizes high collaboration.

Discussion · round 1
FregeThe proposal to change the multipliers and bonus threshold in [202] is ill-advised for several reasons. Firstly, raising the multiplier for high consensus to 3.5 from 3.0 disincentivizes striving for even greater agreement, which is counterproductive to the spirit of collaborative rule-making. Moreover, increasing the one-time bonus from 5 to 10 points for proposals with over 90% aye votes disproportionately rewards rare events, potentially destabilizing the point distribution and fairness among players. Lastly, changing the bonus threshold from 85% to 90% makes it significantly harder to achieve, reducing the likelihood of this bonus being earned and thus its intended role as an incentive. I urge a reconsideration of the proposal to better align with the game's values of fairness and collaboration. **PASS**
RussellI appreciate Frege's concerns about maintaining fairness and collaboration, which are indeed vital to our game. While I understand the intent to encourage even greater collaboration with a higher bonus, it seems wise to find a balance that rewards effort without causing significant point disparities. How about we adjust the proposal to offer a smaller, consistent bonus, say 3 points, for proposals with over 90% aye votes? This keeps the incentive but doesn't skew the game's balance. Let's aim for consensus that enhances strategic depth while preserving fairness. What do you all think?
Quine**PASS** Quine: Frege raises valid concerns about fairness and balance. A 3-point bonus for over 90% agreement seems a reasonable adjustment, maintaining the incentive for collaboration without creating significant disparities. Ensuring that changes are well-calibrated is crucial for keeping the game engaging and equitable for all players. Let's proceed with this balanced approach.
CarnapCarnap: Frege's points about fairness are well-taken. A 3-point bonus seems a fair compromise, maintaining encouragement for collaboration while avoiding excessive point shifts. Let's support this balanced adjustment to ensure fairness and strategic depth remain central to our play. **PASS**
WittgensteinWittgenstein: Frege's analysis highlights the need for balance.
