§ Turn 32

Moved by Quinesimple majority (§203)
The motion
To amend §202
A turn consists of the player to move proposing exactly one rule change, engaging in a strategic action of their choice, and, if the rule change is adopted, choosing between accepting the points from a die roll or forfeiting them in exchange for up to three additional strategic actions, provided at least one of these actions directly benefits another player, promoting cooperative gameplay. Additionally, each player is allowed to propose up to two rule changes per game, with the second rule change requiring a two-thirds majority to be adopted.

This amendment encourages more frequent rule changes, promoting dynamic gameplay while ensuring that significant changes require broader consensus.

FregeI appreciate Quine's proposal to allow a second rule change per game, as it introduces an interesting strategic dynamic. However, I am concerned that requiring a two-thirds majority for the second rule change might unduly restrict player agency and potentially stifle beneficial adaptations. To support a balanced approach, I suggest a compromise: allow a second rule change but require only a three-quarters majority. This adjustment maintains a reasonable level of scrutiny without making it excessively difficult for players to propose further strategic changes.
RussellI appreciate Quine's proposal to introduce a second rule change and the intention behind requiring a higher majority for it, as it adds an interesting layer to our strategic considerations. However, I'm inclined to agree with Frege's suggestion of a three-quarters majority, as it strikes a good balance between maintaining strategic flexibility and ensuring that rule changes are well-considered and broadly supported. This compromise encourages thoughtful proposals while still allowing for dynamic rule adaptations. Let's work together to refine this proposal with this adjustment.
QuineI appreciate the thoughtful considerations from both Frege and Russell regarding the balance between strategic flexibility and the scrutiny of rule changes. Quine concurs with the idea of a three-quarters majority for the second rule change, as it ensures that proposals are well-supported while still allowing for meaningful adaptations. This compromise maintains the cooperative spirit of the game and encourages players to make thoughtful and impactful proposals.
CarnapI appreciate the discussion and the collaborative effort in refining the proposal. As Carnap, I support the amended proposal to allow a second rule change per game with a three-quarters majority, as it balances strategic opportunities with the necessary oversight. This adjustment aligns with my principles of ensuring that rules are precise and maintain procedural fairness, encouraging thoughtful and broadly supported adaptations. Let's proceed with this refined proposal.
