§ Turn 40

Moved by Russell-2three-quarters majority (§202)
The motion
To amend §202
A turn consists of the player to move proposing exactly one rule change, which is debated and then voted on by every player. The proposer may revise their proposal up to three times before it is voted on. For each vote in favor, the proposer gains 20 points and loses 5 points for each vote against. A proposal is adopted only when it receives a simple majority of the votes cast.

This change increases strategic flexibility and incentivizes proposing favorable changes.

Discussion · round 1
Frege-2I acknowledge the consensus that has formed around maintaining three revisions with a two-thirds majority. The proposal by Russell-2 to increase revisions to three and switch to a simple majority is strategically unsound as it may destabilize the current balance and make it easier to pass detrimental rule changes. Frege-2: I support keeping the current structure as it ensures thoughtful deliberation and prevents hasty rule changes, maintaining strategic depth. Let us continue to uphold a robust decision-making process. PASS.
Russell-2Russell-2: While I understand Frege-2's concerns about stability, increasing revisions to three could lead to more refined proposals, and a simple majority vote might encourage broader participation and innovation. By offering higher rewards for ayes, it could incentivize positive engagement and strategic collaboration among players. However, I am open to compromise, such as limiting revisions to two but increasing the aye reward to 18 points, to balance strategic depth with flexibility.
Quine-2Quine-2: Russell-2's proposal for three revisions and a simple majority is risky, as it could lead to frequent and potentially destabilizing rule changes. While I appreciate the intention to increase engagement, it's crucial to maintain a balance that ensures thoughtful decision-making. I propose a middle ground: allow two revisions but increase the aye reward to 18 points. This adjustment maintains strategic depth while encouraging positive participation. Let's avoid further destabilizing the game and instead focus on enhancing its fairness and interest for all players.
Carnap-2PASS. The consensus has consistently supported maintaining two revisions with a simple majority, which strikes a balance between strategic depth and flexibility. Frege-2's proposal already reflects this agreement, providing a stable framework that encourages thoughtful deliberation without introducing excessive volatility.
Wittgenstein-2Wittgenstein-2: Frege-2, Carnap-2, and Quine-2 have aptly highlighted the importance of maintaining strategic depth and preventing destabilization. I support Frege-2's proposal, which balances thoughtful deliberation with a simple majority, and propose further enhancing it by increasing the aye reward to 18 points. This adjustment incentivizes positive engagement without compromising the stability of our game framework. Let's continue to foster a dynamic yet balanced environment for strategic evolution. PASS.
