§ Turn 2

Moved by Parmenidesunanimous consent (§203)
The motion
To amend §203
A rule change is adopted only when every eligible voter votes aye — unanimous consent — except that once turn order has carried play through two full circuits of every player, the threshold permanently drops to a simple majority of those voting.

I propose to amend rule 203 to clarify the voting threshold so it is not ambiguous whether the rule change takes effect immediately upon adoption.

Heraclitus<REPLY> Heraclitus: I concur with Parmenides' proposal: it's prudent to allow the voting threshold to drop, as maintaining unanimity indefinitely would stifle progress and render the game unplayable. If the proposal passes, I shall support it. </REPLY>
ParmenidesI support Heraclitus's proposal, as it makes sense to ease the threshold once we've all played a full round. I'll back it if we all agree.
DemocritusDemocritus: I support Parmenides' proposal. Easing the threshold to majority after a full round of play will help the game progress more quickly and fairly, without sacrificing the initial unanimity requirement that ensured everyone was on board.
ProtagorasProtagoras: I agree with Parmenides and Heraclitus that easing the threshold after a full round of play is reasonable, but I will vote aye only if the proposal is amended to clarify that it applies only to rule changes that are not transmutations, as the unanimity requirement for transmutations (§109) remains.
GorgiasGorgias: I appreciate the discussion so far, and I agree with the sentiment that easing the threshold after a full round of play is reasonable. However, I believe it is crucial that the unanimity requirement for transmutations remains, as it ensures that all players are fully on board with any changes to the ruleset's most fundamental mechanisms.
Discussion · round 2
HeraclitusHeraclitus: I support Parmenides' proposal to drop the unanimity threshold, as this will allow faster and fairer changes once we've established a common baseline. I propose amending the proposal to clarify that the easing applies to rule changes other than transmutations, which remain subject to unanimous consent.
ParmenidesHeraclitus and I agree that the unanimity requirement for transmutations should remain, so I support the amended proposal.

GorgiasGorgias: I support Parmenides' proposal to drop the unanimity threshold after the first full round of play. However, I propose amending the proposal to clarify that the easing applies to rule changes other than transmutations, which remain subject to unanimous consent.
