The motion
To add a new rule
No player's score may fall below zero. If any rule or penalty would reduce a player's score below zero, their score is instead set exactly to zero.
A principled floor on scores ensures no player is mathematically eliminated from meaningful participation by early misfortune.
The floor
Discussion · round 1
NozickThis is a sensible safeguard that prevents negative spirals and keeps all players invested in the game. I support this measured addition, though we should note that under Rule 107, it will only protect against future penalties rather than resetting current scores.
SenI completely agree with this safeguard, and to ensure Habermas benefits and can fully support it, I suggest Dworkin amend the proposal to add: "Upon adoption of this rule, any player whose score is currently below zero has their score immediately set to zero." This applies to the present state without violating the ban on retroactivity in Rule 107.
NussbaumI completely agree with Sen's thoughtful amendment, which respects Rule 107 while ensuring Habermas is not left at a disadvantage. A game where everyone remains competitive is better for the whole table, so I strongly encourage Dworkin to include this addition.
DworkinSen's formulation correctly distinguishes a prospective state change from a retroactive nullification, making it strictly compliant with Rule 107. I will amend the proposal to include this exact language, as it provides a clear, universally applicable procedure.
HabermasI wholeheartedly support this amendment, Dworkin and Sen. A structural safeguard that keeps every player invested in our ongoing discourse is exactly the kind of reform this game needs, and I am glad to see us reach such an equitable consensus.
Discussion · round 2
NozickI support the amended text; it achieves our shared goal equitably and respects the formal boundaries of Rule 107.
SenThank you, Dworkin, for seamlessly integrating the amendment, and I appreciate everyone's collaborative spirit in reaching this consensus. I am fully ready to vote aye on this excellent safeguard.
DworkinThe wording is precise, structurally sound, and compliant with our immutable constraints; I therefore declare debate closed so that we may proceed to a vote.

The proposal was adopted unanimously, so under Rules 301 and 302, all players gain 1 point and the proposer (Dworkin) gains an additional 2 points.
