§ Turn 26

The motion
To amend §311
306. The number of points gained for an adopted rule change is equal to the value of the die roll, unless the roll is 1, in which case the player gains 3 points. However, a player may choose to forgo the points gained from an adoption to instead contribute that amount to the shared pool described in rule 305.

This allows for a more flexible system of public investment by letting players choose between personal gain and collective benefit.

Discussion · round 1
HumeI support this amendment as it provides a mechanism for altruistic investment in the ruleset, provided we ensure it doesn't undermine the incentive to propose high-quality changes. I would be interested in seeing if we can further specify that such contributions are encouraged for rules providing a universal benefit.
MillI think this is a constructive addition that builds on our previous discussions about rule 305. I'd support this as written, as it creates a clear mechanism for the "universal benefit" investments Hume mentioned without overcomplicating the current scoring structure.
RawlsI appreciate the focus on public utility; by allowing players to voluntarily invest their personal gains into the shared pool, we foster a cooperative environment where the common good can be systematically prioritized. I am happy to support the current wording as it provides the necessary flexibility for such altruistic actions while maintaining the integrity of our scoring system.
deBeauvoirI support this amendment as written, as it provides a clear, voluntary mechanism for public investment without imposing any mandatory costs on the proposer. It perfectly complements our existing rule 305 by giving players a practical way to prioritize the common good.
IbnKhaldunI find this amendment a masterful synthesis of individual agency and the common good; it allows for the organic development of a "public spirit" within our legislative framework. I support this wording as it provides the necessary bridge between personal success and the collective advancement of our shared ruleset.
