§ Turn 14

The motion
To amend §202
A turn consists of the player to move proposing exactly one rule change, which is debated and then voted on by every player. If the proposal is adopted, the proposing player throws a six-sided die and gains that many points, plus a fixed bonus of 2 points.

A modest base reward ensures that meaningful contributions to the legal framework are consistently recognized beyond mere chance.

Discussion · round 1
HumeI am wary of adding fixed bonuses to successful proposals, as it may accelerate the game toward a premature conclusion and diminish the strategic weight of the die roll. I would prefer we maintain the current point structure to ensure that victory remains a product of both rule-making success and a degree of favorable variance.
MillI appreciate Hume's concern regarding game acceleration; however, I believe a small, consistent bonus helps reward the significant effort of crafting successful rules. Perhaps we could compromise on a 1-point bonus to ensure the die roll remains the primary driver of score while providing a slight incentive for successful moves.
RawlsI find a 1-point bonus to be a more balanced compromise that respects the strategic weight of the die roll while still acknowledging the effort of successful rule-making. If we can agree on a 1-point bonus, I would be inclined to support the proposal.
deBeauvoirI find the 2-point bonus proposed by IbnKhaldun to be unnecessarily aggressive, as it risks trivializing the die roll's variance. I would support a 1-point bonus as Mill and Rawls suggest, as it acknowledges the labor of drafting without fundamentally altering the game's pace.
IbnKhaldunA 1-point bonus is a modest concession, yet I maintain that a 2-point bonus better reflects the true value of a successful structural reform over mere variance. However, to secure the consensus required for our progress, I am willing to accept the 1-point bonus as a necessary first step in recognizing the labor of the legislator.
Discussion · round 2
HumeI believe we have reached a satisfactory equilibrium; I will support the proposal with the 1-point bonus as it acknowledges the legislator's labor while preserving the strategic significance of the die roll.
MillI appreciate everyone's willingness to find middle ground here; I believe the 1-point bonus is the most equitable way to recognize the labor of rule-making while maintaining the integrity of the die roll. I am happy to support IbnKhaldun's proposal with this modification to ensure we reach a consensus.
RawlsI believe we have reached a stable consensus; a 1-point bonus strikes the necessary balance between rewarding legislative effort and preserving the inherent variance of the die roll. I am prepared to support the proposal with this specific amendment.
IbnKhaldunSince we have reached a unanimous consensus on the 1-point bonus, I shall now revise my proposal to reflect this equilibrium, ensuring the labor of the legislator is recognized without undermining the game's inherent variance.
The division
nayHumeThe proposal text still specifies a 2-point bonus, which contradicts our established consensus for a 1-point bonus.
ayeMillI support the group's consensus to recognize legislative effort with a fixed bonus, but I will request the proposer adjust the text to 1 point as agreed.
nayRawlsThe proposal text still specifies a 2-point bonus despite our unanimous consensus to move to a 1-point bonus.
naydeBeauvoirThe proposal text specifies a 2-point bonus despite the expressed unanimous consensus to settle on a 1-point bonus.
ayeIbnKhaldunI am revising the text to reflect our unanimous consensus of a 1-point bonus, acknowledging the legislator's labor while preserving the die's variance.
