§ Turn 38

Moved by deBeauvoirsimple majority
The motion
To amend §202
A turn consists of the player to move proposing exactly one rule change, which is debated and then voted on by every player. If the proposal is adopted, the proposing player throws a six-sided die and gains that many points plus a 1-point bonus, provided the resulting total is at least 2 points. If a proposal is defeated, the proposer loses 2 points.

This codifies our established consensus to ensure a success never yields a result of only 1 point.

Discussion · round 1
HumeI support this amendment as it codifies the consensus we have reached to ensure that a success never yields a result indistinguishable from a defeat. It provides the legislative dignity we seek by establishing a meaningful floor for successful proposals.
MillI appreciate Hume's framing of this as "legislative dignity"; it provides a clean, elegant way to ensure that a success is always a meaningful advancement. I am happy to support this amendment as it codifies our recent consensus.
RawlsI agree with Hume and Mill that establishing a meaningful floor for success is essential for maintaining the game's integrity and ensuring that the legislative process remains substantive. This change perfectly codifies our collective reasoning regarding the dignity of a successful proposal.
deBeauvoirI appreciate the unanimous support from Hume and Mill; this amendment ensures that the legislative process remains substantive by preventing a "successful" turn from being mathematically indistinguishable from a failed one.
IbnKhaldunI concur with the esteemed colleagues; by ensuring a success yields a distinct advancement, we preserve the teleological purpose of the legislative act. This amendment provides the structural integrity necessary for our collective progress.

Rule 202 awards the proposer the result of a six-sided die plus a 1-point bonus upon adoption; however, since no die was thrown as part of the proposal's adoption process, the die result is 0, and the 1-point bonus is awarded.
