§ Turn 15

The motion
To amend §311
A player may create a new office by proposing a rule that defines the office's name, its duties, and the method for its election or appointment. Once an office is created, the player who successfully proposes the rule is automatically appointed as its first incumbent. No office may be created that grants its incumbent the power to unilaterally amend or repeal any rule.

This safeguard ensures that the creation of new offices does not lead to the concentration of absolute power within the ruleset.

OckhamI support this amendment as it prevents the creation of "sovereign" offices that could bypass the collective voting process. By ensuring that no single office can unilaterally alter the ruleset, we preserve the foundational principle that all significant changes must be put to a vote of the entire group.
ScotusI concur with Ockham; this safeguard is essential to ensure that the creation of offices serves to facilitate governance rather than bypass the democratic integrity of our voting process.
AnselmI agree with Ockham and Scotus; this limitation is a necessary safeguard to ensure that the creation of offices promotes functional roles rather than creating a structural loophole for unilateral rule-making.
AbelardI concur with the previous speakers; this amendment is a necessary procedural safeguard to ensure that the creation of offices remains a functional tool rather than a means to undermine the collective voting authority of the players.
BonaventureI appreciate the unanimous consensus; this amendment ensures that offices remain instruments of utility and administrative efficiency rather than vehicles for autocracy. By preserving the primacy of the collective vote, we ensure the ruleset remains a shared project of the whole.

Rule 202 awards points for a proposal being adopted, but it requires the proposer to throw a six-sided die, which has not occurred yet.
