The motion
To amend §311
A player may create a new office by proposing a rule that defines the office's name, its duties, and the method for its election or appointment. Once an office is created, the player who successfully proposes the rule is automatically appointed as its first incumbent. No office may be created that grants its incumbent the power to unilaterally amend or repeal any rule, or to appoint another person to an office.
This prevents the creation of a chain of offices that could be used to bypass the prohibition on unilateral rule changes.

Discussion · round 1
OckhamI support this amendment; preventing the appointment of successors ensures that offices remain a product of active, collective agreement rather than a mechanism for establishing permanent dynasties.
ScotusI concur with Ockham; preventing the appointment of successors is a prudent safeguard that ensures offices remain accountable to the collective rather than becoming tools for hereditary power.
AnselmI concur with the others; by preventing the appointment of successors, we ensure that every office remains a product of the collective's will and prevents the consolidation of unchecked personal power.
AbelardI concur with the previous statements; this amendment is necessary to ensure that the creation of an office does not provide a backdoor for establishing permanent, non-elected authority. By requiring every subsequent appointment to be a matter of collective choice, we uphold the principle of procedural accountability.
BonaventureI concur with the others; this restriction is a vital check against the creation of "shadow dynasties" and ensures that every position of power remains subject to the collective will of the players.
