§ Turn 19

Moved by Tarskisupermajority of four out of five (§203)
The motion
To amend §202
A turn consists of the player to move proposing exactly one rule change, which is debated and then voted on by every player. If the proposal is adopted, the proposing player throws two six-sided dice and gains the sum of the two dice in points. A proposal may only be voted on once per player's turn.

To prevent repetitive voting, ensuring each turn is productive.

TarskiI appreciate the focus on maintaining the integrity of each player's turn and preventing repeated voting on the same proposal. However, to ensure fairness and strategic depth, I propose adding a clarification: "A proposal may only be voted on once per player's turn unless all players agree to allow a second vote on the same turn." This would prevent exploitation while still allowing flexibility if a unanimous decision is reached.
GoedelGoedel: I appreciate Tarski's proposal for its balance between preventing repeated voting and allowing flexibility. To further ensure fairness, I suggest specifying that a second vote can only be considered if the first vote results in a tie. This adds an additional layer of consensus, ensuring that only proposals with genuine support are revisited.
ChurchChurch: I appreciate the spirit of both proposals to balance strategic depth with fairness. To further refine this, I suggest adding a condition that a second vote can only occur if the proposal has been modified in a way that addresses concerns raised in the first debate. This ensures that any re-vote is substantive and not merely a repetition.
KleeneKleene: I appreciate the constructive proposals from both Tarski and Goedel, which aim to balance fairness and strategic opportunity. To further ensure procedural integrity, I propose adding: "If a second vote occurs, it must be followed by a mandatory one-turn reflection period where no rule changes may be proposed, to prevent rapid back-and-forth manipulation." This addition maintains strategic depth while safeguarding against potential exploitation.
PostPost: I appreciate Tarski, Goedel, and Church's thoughtful contributions to ensuring fairness and strategic depth. To build on Kleene's suggestion and enhance transparency, I propose adding: "Any proposal revisited in a second vote must be accompanied by a brief written explanation of the modifications made since the first vote, ensuring all players understand the rationale behind the changes." This addition promotes clarity and informed decision-making.

TarskiTarski: I appreciate the insightful contributions from Goedel, Church, Kleene, and Post. To further enhance strategic clarity and ensure equitable gameplay, I propose adding: "If a second vote is permitted, the proposer must publicly declare the intended strategic benefit of revisiting the proposal, allowing all players to assess its potential impact on the game's balance." This ensures transparency and informed decision-making while maintaining strategic depth.
GoedelGoedel: I appreciate the collective effort to ensure fairness and strategic depth. To further enhance this proposal, I suggest adding a requirement that the proposer must also provide a rationale for why the initial concerns were not addressed in the first vote, ensuring any second attempt is genuinely necessary. This addition maintains transparency and encourages thoughtful rule-making.
ChurchChurch: I appreciate the thoughtful refinements and the emphasis on transparency and fairness. To further ensure strategic integrity, I suggest adding a condition that any second vote must be preceded by a minimum one-turn interval, preventing immediate back-to-back voting on the same proposal. This ensures that players have adequate time to consider and discuss the implications of the changes.
KleeneKleene: I appreciate the depth of strategic considerations from all participants. To ensure equitable gameplay and prevent potential abuse, I propose adding a requirement that any proposal revisited in a second vote must be accompanied by a consensus agreement, where all players must explicitly agree to the re-vote. This maintains the integrity of each player's turn and ensures that only proposals with genuine support are revisited, aligning with procedural fairness principles.
PostPost: I appreciate the collective effort to ensure fairness and strategic depth. To further enhance this proposal, I propose adding: "A second vote must be scheduled on the proposer’s subsequent turn, ensuring ample time for reflection and strategic planning by all players." This addition maintains procedural integrity and aligns with our goal of equitable gameplay.
Discussion · round 3
TarskiI appreciate the comprehensive refinements by Goedel, Church, Kleene, and Post, which emphasize transparency and fairness. To further support strategic integrity, I propose adding a stipulation that any second vote must be accompanied by a formal motion from the proposer, detailing how the modifications address the concerns raised initially. This ensures clarity and accountability in the re-vote process.
GoedelI appreciate the constructive contributions from all participants, which have significantly enhanced the proposal's fairness and transparency. To further align with our shared goal of strategic depth and equitable gameplay, I suggest adding: "In the event of a second vote, a neutral third-party observer (selected by consensus) should be present to ensure the process is conducted impartially and to verify that the modifications address all initial concerns." This addition promotes accountability and maintains the integrity of our decision-making process.
ChurchChurch: I appreciate the collective effort to ensure fairness and strategic integrity. To further align with these goals, I propose adding: "Any second vote must be preceded by a mandatory one-turn reflection period to allow for thorough consideration of the proposal’s implications, ensuring strategic depth and preventing hasty decisions." This ensures players have adequate time to reflect and strategize, maintaining a balanced and equitable game environment.
KleeneI appreciate the thoughtful contributions from everyone, particularly the emphasis on fairness and strategic depth. To ensure procedural integrity and prevent potential exploitation, I propose adding: "If a proposal is revisited in a second vote, the proposer must gain a unanimous agreement from all players for the re-vote to proceed, ensuring that any decision to revisit is genuinely supported by all participants." This maintains the integrity of each player's turn and aligns with the principles of equitable gameplay.
PostPost: I appreciate the collective effort towards transparency and fairness in our rule-making process. To further enhance strategic depth and ensure informed decision-making, I suggest adding: "In addition to the unanimous agreement for a second vote, a brief summary of the proposed changes must be circulated to all players at least one turn in advance. This ensures everyone has adequate time to review and strategize, maintaining the integrity of our equitable gameplay."
