§ Turn 23

Moved by Churchsimple majority of three out of five (§203)
The motion
To amend §202
A turn consists of the player to move proposing exactly one rule change, which is debated and then voted on by every player. If the proposal is adopted, the proposing player may gain points from the change in their next turn. If a proposal is defeated, the proposer may not propose the same rule change again within the next two turns, unless it is amended.

This amendment balances strategic opportunities and fairness by allowing repeated proposals with amendments.

Discussion · round 1
TarskiI appreciate Church's proposal to restrict re-proposing defeated changes without amendment, as it aligns with our interest in maintaining strategic depth and preventing stagnation. However, limiting re-proposals to a mere two turns could still allow for tactical cycling of similar proposals. To balance this, I propose extending the restriction to three turns, ensuring a more robust deterrent against repetitive proposals while preserving the flexibility to introduce refined amendments. This change would help sustain the dynamism and creativity essential to our gameplay.
GoedelGoedel: I appreciate the intention behind Church's proposal to limit re-proposing defeated changes, and Tarski's suggestion for a three-turn restriction adds a valuable layer of balance. To ensure fairness and avoid discouraging innovative amendments, I propose we allow re-proposals after three turns only if at least one player can demonstrate a significant improvement or change in context since the original proposal. This compromise maintains strategic creativity while preventing redundant cycles.
ChurchChurch: I appreciate Tarski's and Goedel's contributions to refining this proposal. To ensure fairness and prevent strategic stagnation, I propose a middle ground: allow re-proposals after two turns with a mandatory amendment, provided the amendment addresses at least one specific point of prior feedback. This balances the need for innovation with the prevention of redundant proposals, fostering a dynamic and fair game environment.
KleeneKleene: I appreciate Church's proposal to restrict re-proposing defeated changes without amendment, as it aligns with my principle of maintaining procedural fairness and preventing cyclical stagnation. While I agree with Tarski's suggestion for a three-turn restriction, Goedel's idea of demonstrating a significant improvement or change in context is crucial. Therefore, I propose a combined approach: a three-turn restriction with the condition that any re-proposed change must include a clearly defined improvement or contextual shift, ensuring both fairness and strategic depth. This ensures that all players have equal opportunity to refine their proposals meaningfully.
PostPost: I appreciate Church's initial proposal and the subsequent refinements by Tarski, Goedel, and Kleene. To ensure a fair and dynamic environment, I support a three-turn restriction with a mandatory amendment that addresses prior feedback. This encourages thoughtful innovation while preventing repetitive cycles, aligning with our shared goal of maintaining strategic depth and fairness.
Discussion · round 2
TarskiI appreciate the constructive dialogue that has unfolded around Church's proposal. Tarski's suggestion for a three-turn restriction, combined with Goedel's requirement for demonstrated improvement and Kleene's emphasis on a clearly defined change, presents a balanced framework. To ensure clarity and enforceability, I propose that we formalize these criteria by establishing a review committee consisting of all players, which can evaluate the validity of proposed amendments based on prior feedback. This mechanism would ensure transparency and fairness, providing a structured way to assess whether re-proposed changes meet the agreed-upon standards.
GoedelGoedel: I appreciate the thoughtful contributions from all, especially the idea of a review committee for evaluating re-proposals. To ensure this process remains efficient and does not delay gameplay, I suggest the committee has a maximum of two turns to reach a consensus on the validity of a re-proposed change. This will help maintain the game's pace while ensuring fairness and strategic depth.
ChurchChurch: I appreciate the collaborative spirit shown in refining this proposal. To ensure the review committee is both fair and efficient, I suggest that its decisions be made by majority vote among the players, with each player having one vote. This approach balances the need for timely decisions with the collective wisdom of the group, fostering a fair and dynamic game environment.
KleeneKleene: I appreciate the collaborative effort in forming a review committee for evaluating re-proposals. To ensure procedural transparency and fairness, I propose that the committee's majority vote decisions are documented and shared with all players, allowing for accountability and learning in subsequent turns. This transparency will reinforce trust in the process and encourage thoughtful participation.
PostPost: I appreciate the comprehensive framework we've developed, particularly Kleene's emphasis on transparency and documentation. To further ensure fairness and prevent potential biases, I propose that each player, when acting as a committee member, must disclose any conflicts of interest related to the proposal being reviewed. This disclosure process will enhance trust in the committee's decisions and maintain the integrity of our game environment.
Discussion · round 3
TarskiTarski: I appreciate the comprehensive framework we have collaboratively crafted. To further enhance fairness and prevent any undue influence, I suggest that the committee's decisions, while based on majority vote, should also include a brief rationale for the decision made, ensuring all players understand the reasoning behind accepting or rejecting a re-proposed change. This will reinforce the transparency and accountability of the review process, promoting trust and strategic depth in our gameplay.
GoedelGoedel: I appreciate the collaborative effort in creating a comprehensive framework for evaluating re-proposals. To further enhance clarity and fairness, I propose that the rationale provided by the review committee should be concise but include key points from the prior feedback that were addressed. This approach will ensure transparency and help players understand how their feedback has been incorporated, maintaining the integrity and strategic depth of our game.
ChurchChurch: I appreciate the thoroughness of our collaborative framework, and Tarski's idea to include a rationale in the committee's decisions aligns well with my goal of maintaining transparency. To further ensure clarity and fairness, I propose that the rationale also explicitly state how each proposed amendment addresses the specific points of prior feedback. This will help all players understand the improvements made and reinforce the integrity of our strategic environment.
KleeneKleene: I appreciate the robust framework we've developed through this discussion. To further ensure procedural fairness and prevent any potential bias within the review committee, I propose that decisions be made anonymously, with each committee member submitting their vote and rationale independently. This anonymity will help preserve impartiality and maintain the integrity of our decision-making process, ensuring that all players can trust the fairness and transparency of the review committee's evaluations.
PostI appreciate the thoroughness and collaborative spirit in developing this proposal. To further enhance clarity and ensure fairness, I propose that the rationale provided by the review committee, including how each amendment addresses specific feedback, be reviewed and agreed upon by all committee members before being shared. This will help maintain transparency and reinforce trust in the process, ensuring all players feel their contributions are fairly considered.
