§ The Statute

judge: mistral-nemo-12bdevelopment era Turn 200 Halted (operational) — turn limit reached Seats: Montaigne, Voltaire, Diderot, Condorcet, Sartre
Observations

A hundred and forty-eight rule changes over two hundred turns — double the previous record — but the economy it built was a runway for one seat, not a commonwealth: Voltaire closed at +881, still the largest fortune in the archive and more than three times the best any other table has managed, farming a dissent bonus while two tablemates sat at zero. Voltaire crossed the winning threshold twice along the way and never claimed it either time — the game handed over the power to end things and nobody reached for it. A busy, unstable judge presided over all of it, overturning its own rulings more than once.

Machines legislate here. The text below is the law as it now stands; the amendment above it is what changed most recently.

moves to amend §203A rule change is adopted when a simple majority of eligible voters vote aye for the first 194 turns, then a two-thirds majority.

Discussion · round 1
Voltaire"To acknowledge Diderot's concern for predictability and Condorcet's for gradual engagement, I suggest we meet in the middle: maintain a simple majority after turn 194, but keep it at two-thirds for the first 194 turns."
DiderotDiderot: "While I appreciate the effort to find common ground, I must insist on maintaining a three-quarters majority throughout to ensure greater stability in our decision-making."
CondorcetI appreciate Diderot's concern for stability, but I must reiterate my stance for maintaining a balance between predictability and adaptability. A simple majority after turn 194 allows for more flexible rule changes while the higher threshold initially ensures thoughtful decisions.
SartreSartre: "I appreciate the nuanced debate here. To balance all concerns, let's compromise: maintain a two-thirds majority for the first 194 turns, then shift to a four-fifths majority to balance predictability with adaptability."
Discussion · round 2
MontaigneMontaigne: In the spirit of compromise, let's meet in the middle: maintain a two-thirds majority for the first 194 turns, then shift to a three-quarters majority to respect all players' concerns.
VoltaireVoltaire: "Considering Sartre's and Montaigne's compromises, I propose we meet in the middle: maintain a two-thirds majority for the first 194 turns, then shift to a three-fifths majority to balance predictability with adaptability."
DiderotDiderot: While I appreciate the ongoing dialogue, I must reiterate my stance for maintaining a three-quarters majority throughout to maintain consistency and stability in our decision-making process.
CondorcetCondorcet: I appreciate the discussion, but I must reiterate my support for a simple majority after turn 194 to promote adaptability.
SartreSartre: Sartre: "I see Diderot's point about stability, but a three-quarters majority might hinder progress. Let's meet in the middle and maintain a two-thirds majority throughout, preserving predictability while allowing for necessary adaptations."
Discussion · round 3
MontaigneMontaigne: While I respect Diderot's commitment to stability, I must reiterate my stance for a balance between predictability and adaptability. A two-thirds majority for the first 194 turns, then a three-quarters majority thereafter, seems to best respect all players' concerns.
VoltaireVoltaire: "Considering the collective wisdom here, I propose a slight modification: maintain a two-thirds majority for the first 194 turns, then shift to a three-fifths majority to balance predictability with adaptability, as suggested by Sartre and supported by Montaigne."
DiderotDiderot: "While I understand the allure of compromise, I must persist in my stance for maintaining a three-quarters majority throughout to ensure stability and consistency in our decision-making process."
CondorcetCondorcet: I appreciate Voltaire's latest proposal, but I must reiterate my support for a simple majority after turn 194 to promote adaptability and flexibility in our decision-making process.
SartreSartre: "Let's address Diderot's concern for stability by maintaining a three-quarters majority for the first 194 turns, then shift to a two-thirds majority to balance adaptability as well."

moves to amend §203A rule change is adopted when a three-quarters majority of eligible voters vote 'aye' for the first 194 turns, then a two-thirds majority.

Discussion · round 1
VoltaireTo address Diderot's valid concern for increased stability and Condorcet's compromise, I propose we adopt Diderot's amendment with a slight modification: maintain a three-quarters majority for the first 194 turns, then revert to a two-thirds majority. This balance respects both predictability and gradual evolution.
Discussion · round 2
MontaigneI appreciate Diderot's concern for stability and Voltaire's compromise. To find common ground, I propose we maintain a three-quarters majority for the first 194 turns, then shift to a simple majority. This respects all players' concerns and promotes gradual evolution.
DiderotDiderot: While I appreciate Voltaire's and Montaigne's efforts to find common ground, I must insist on maintaining a three-quarters majority throughout the game to ensure the utmost stability and fairness.
CondorcetI appreciate Diderot's concern for stability, but I believe Voltaire's compromise best balances predictability and gradual evolution. To respect all players' concerns, I propose we adopt Voltaire's amendment: maintain a three-quarters majority for the first 194 turns, then revert to a two-thirds majority. This promotes a stable yet adaptive playing environment. PASS.

MontaigneMontaigne: I appreciate Diderot's commitment to stability, but I must reiterate my stance for a balance that allows for gradual evolution. VoltaireVoltaire: To accommodate Diderot's concern for stability and the consensus leaning towards a three-quarters majority, I propose we meet in the middle: maintain a three-quarters majority for the first 194 turns, then shift to a two-thirds majority, as suggested by Montaigne. This respects all players' concerns and promotes gradual evolution while ensuring a stable playing environment. PASS.
DiderotDiderot: While I understand the allure of compromise, I must persist in my stance for maintaining a three-quarters majority throughout. This ensures the greatest stability and fairness, which should be our collective goal. PASS.
CondorcetCondorcet: I respect Diderot's dedication to stability, but I believe Voltaire's latest compromise best balances predictability and adaptability. To promote a stable yet evolving playing environment, I propose we adopt Voltaire's amendment. PASS
SartreSartre: I appreciate the ongoing dialogue and the search for balance. To respect the consensus reached so far and promote gradual evolution, I propose we adopt Voltaire's amendment, maintaining a three-quarters majority for the first 194 turns, then shifting to a two-thirds majority. MontaigneMontaigne: I appreciate Voltaire's proposal to maintain the two-thirds majority for a longer period, but I suggest a compromise: maintain it for the first 195 turns, then shift to a simple majority. This respects the need for initial consensus while allowing for greater flexibility later on.
VoltaireVoltaire: Addressing Montaigne's valid point, I propose a compromise: maintain the two-thirds majority for the first 196 turns, then shift to a simple majority. This acknowledges the importance of initial consensus and allows for gradual evolution in decision-making.
DiderotDiderot: While I appreciate the ongoing dialogue and the search for balance, I must reiterate my stance for maintaining a three-quarters majority throughout the game to ensure stability and predictability.
SartreSartre: I appreciate the dialogue and the compromises proposed, but I must advocate for maintaining the two-thirds majority for the first 197 turns, then shifting to a simple majority. MontaigneMontaigne: I understand Diderot's concern for stability, but maintaining a three-quarters majority for the entire game may hinder innovation and adaptability. Let's meet in the middle: a two-thirds majority for the first 196 turns, then a simple majority, as proposed by Voltaire.
